Chart Choice With Signal 2 DJ Paul Fairclough
The Sentinel

WELCOME to this week's music column from Signal 2.

Here we give you the opportunity to find out about new albums that are out or about to be released.

Only a couple of weeks ago the Osmond Brothers performed for the last time at the Victoria Hall.

After 54 years, the brothers are finally going to go into semi-retirement.
Jay and Merrill were joined by Jimmy, who celebrates his birthday this week, in the 40th anniversary year of his hit Long Haired Lover From Liverpool.

To coincide with the UK tour, the brothers have also released a new album with fresh material that reminds the listener how well these brothers harmonise.

There are some beautiful melodies and soaring vocals that will grab the attention of both Osmond fans and the more neutral music fan.

The passing of time has certainly not affected the Osmonds' vocal abilities in any way.

Jimmy Osmond's daughter Sophia features on Fall To Fly – as does the X Factor's Ruth Lorenzo.

There are a number of stand out tracks, that have a more rock and contemporary feel.

All in all, it's a great album that will satisfy the listener.

My favourite track is Breakable, a great sounding song that also has a special guest appearance from their sister Marie which is a rare thing these days.

It'll be sad to see the brothers retire, however the younger members of the family, Jimmy, Donny and Marie will still continue to perform in the UK.

For those wondering about Wayne Osmond, who was due to tour, Jimmy informs me that he has been struck by a stroke.

This is as a result of brain cancer which he suffered a few years ago and has prevented him flying to be with them.

However, the brothers did thank their UK fans for all the Facebook and Twitter messages Wayne has received.

That's it for this week's albums, remember you can hear more great guests on my show on DAB Digital Radio & 1170am Signal 2 weekdays from 3pm on the Home Run.

Next week Signal 1's Simon Morykin will bring you up to date with the latest singles.
